I noticed on a thread on Facebook that the letters ajax in the same style that used to be at the De Meer stadium have now been put on the main entrance of the ArenA. Are these the original letters from De Meer? or if not what happened to the original letters

I remember that the original letters of De Meer have been lost. But I'm not very sure. Wait some elder guys to answer you.

Yes this are the original letters from the Meer.. They were found about 2 years ago at somebody's attic I thought...
He gave them to Ajax..

was doing a bit of research on the web and coma across this
The much-loved De Meer stadium was torn down and the land was sold to the city council. A residential neighbourhood now occupies the area. The only thing left of the old stadium are the letters AJAX, nowadays in place on the façade of the youth training grounds De Toekomst, near the Amsterdam Arena.
