Personally i really like Urby as a player for Ajax (only left midfield though) as he has great speed, vision and is a real problem for opposing defenders, but am i right in thinking that his contract ends after THIS season. Do you think he will renew his contract or will he pull a Jonathan De Guzman and walk away on a free transfer.
Personally i feel he should stay and try to achieve some silverware with Ajax. If he moves abroad he will only end up moving to a team like Real Mallorca who have very little chance of achieving anything in their division. Here at Ajax he can compete for the Eredivisie and hopefully start playing in the champions league more regularly.
My other question is do you think Urby is good enough for the Dutch national team. He has been tipped to become a regular in the national side for years now and as of yet he has not made the step up, while others like Elia have started putting in performances. I liken Urby to Royston Drenthe who was tipped to become a star and has so far failed (albiet at different stature of clubs), but do you think Urby will end up as an Oranje regular?

Terrible player. He cannot defend, tactical weak and attacking skills....he hasn't got it also.
Thank god he will not renew his contract, because the AJAX-directors realized at last that he is just not good enough. No or very minimun progression since his debut 6 years ago.
So...also not good enough for Holland. He will never be a regular.

The main problem is that he didn't progress in his development since he made his debut. I really thought he would become a great player for Ajax but I think that he is not strong enough mentally to become the player he could be.
I still think he is good enough to play for Ajax and I would like to see him renew his contract. In games against high quality opponents he plays his best football and in those games he is a great player for Ajax. But for that reason it might be better for him if he does make the step to one of the European top leagues. There he will play a lot more games against top teams and he'll have to play on the top of his capacity every single week and sometimes even twice a week while in the Eredivisie there are really only 4 or 5 teams that ask him to give everything. If he was mentally strong enough he could play his best even against an amateur team but there lies his problem.
You could compare him to Bale of Tottenham but hopefully the latter won't stop in his development and realizes his full potential.
